Dr. Vanessa Villani, Ph.D., C.Psych.
Vanessa Villani joins Chrysalis Centre with strong clinical skills, dedication to exceptional client care, and a solid knowledge of evidence-based methods. She completed her master’s degree in Clinical Psychology at Ryerson University, acquiring exceptional clinical training at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) and North York General Hospital (NYGH). She is currently a PhD candidate at Ryerson University, and she will begin her work as a psychologist in supervised practice in the fall of 2015. Vanessa has successfully completed her pre-doctoral internship at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA), where she specialized in providing Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT), family therapy, parenting strategies to manage behavioural concerns in pre-school and school-aged children, mental health interventions for youth with developmental and intellectual disabilities, and comprehensive assessments.
Vanessa approaches clinical practice with a nonjudgmental attitude, a warm and welcoming demeanor, and a genuine interest for clients’ experiences. Vanessa offers a variety of services for children, adolescents, and adults, including psychoeducational assessments (considering cognitive, academic, and socio-emotional functioning), and therapy to address family challenges, traumatic experiences, depression, anxiety, and behavioural issues. Vanessa’s main theoretical orientation is cognitive-behavioural, drawing on psychodynamic, dialectical-behavioural, attachment, and strength-based approaches to address individualized therapeutic goals.
