Shameela Hoosen-Shakeel, M.A.
Shameela Hoosen-Shakeel is a psychometrist who, in collaboration with a registered psychologist, offers psychoeducational assessments and evaluation of learning difficulties (e.g., Learning Disability or Dyslexia) as well as behavioural and emotional difficulties (e.g., ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, and Pervasive Developmental Disorders). Ms. Hoosen-Shakeel also offers Gifted Assessments. Ms. Hoosen-Shakeel is a Certified Cogmed Coach (CCC) and is therefore qualified to coach participants through the Cogmed Program, which is an evidence-based intervention for improving working memory (www.cogmed.com).
In 1997, Ms. Hoosen-Shakeel obtained her M.A. in Applied Developmental Psychology from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education/University of Toronto. She has worked in the Peel District School Board, in both the Psychiatry and Psychology departments at The Hospital for Sick Children (HSC), and with private psychologists in Toronto and Markham.
